The 2AM Curry Club

Talk about growing old disgracefully! We hosted a dinner party for six friends on Saturday – kicking off at 6pm with sundowners before moving on to a home-made Indian feast. Who could have guessed it would roll on until 2am? Beer, champagne, and wine in every colour … really, at our age we should know better. Especially since the group spanned from mid-forties to early seventies!

It did make me reflect on how age gaps seem to shrink as the years roll by – watch this space, there may be a blog on that soon.

As for the aftermath? My husband executed a perfect disappearing act straight to bed while I was left battling a mountain of dishes until 3am. I’m fairly sure he’ll be entering himself for the Men’s 100m Sprint to the Duvet after midnight at the next Olympics.

Predictably, Sunday was a very slow and quiet day. And yes – the dreaded two-day hangover is no urban myth.

Still, it was worth it. A wonderful evening with great company, and now two (heading for three) alcohol-free days have left me feeling fresher, sleeping better, and even looking brighter. Perhaps the occasional blow-out is exactly what’s needed to remind me of the joys of clean living?

You’ve got more energy. It’s very rare for me to see the other side of midnight 😁

Husband going to bed is a boon
Clearing up on your own stops any disagreement on what goes where and generally a morning Husband who owes you one
