We recently changed our car. Living on a small island has cured me lingering desire to drive the latest, BMW, Lexus, Audi. Instead, we now zip around in a cute little Suzuki Swift – perfect for the busy streets of Grand Baie and super easy to nip into the smallest of parking spaces.
To my delight being a 2025 model it comes with Apple Car Play. At last – music to drive to! Local radio is a lively mix of Indian, Creole, and French so while I appreciate the cultural diversity, a blend of Bollywood, Seg and Euro Pop isn’t my idea of a great soundtrack.
So excited was I about my newfound access to music that I spent a considerable amount of time went into curating new Spotify playlists. Sad, I know. But I can now indulge my inner diva and imagine myself as the incredible songbird I most definitely am not.
Remember Tom Cruise in The Firm, belting away in his car? That’s me – all enthusiasm and zero talent, and relishing the opportunity of a solo journey.
What’s on my “singing in the car” playlist? Shania, Carrie Underwood, Bon Jovi, U2 amongst others. Big ballads, big tunes and big voices. My guilty pleasure, what’s yours?
